# Add People to a Household

Add people to a household so that you have an accurate picture of the family and other caregivers living with the person you’re managing.

Note If you can’t add someone to more than one household, ask your Salesforce admin to enable the multiple relationship groups custom setting.

1. From within a person’s household, select **Add Member**.
2. Don’t edit the household’s name in the Account field.
3. For Contact, select the name of the contact you’re adding to the household.
    
    If you don’t see the contact’s name, you can add it. In Salesforce Classic, click **New** on the Lookup page. In Lightning Experience, click **New Contact**.

    Note If your org enabled Person Accounts, go to the Account tab, and click **New**. To create the contact’s account, choose the Person Account record type.
4. Select the member’s role in the household.
5. Make the record active, and save your work.
