# Triggering Journeys Based on Audiences

You can select a set of users—an audience—and put them into a journey. Your audience can be specific and include, say, a user who purchased a certain product and posted within the last 30 days.

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small "><colgroup><col></colgroup><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: <strong>Enterprise</strong>, <strong>Professional</strong>, <strong>Unlimited</strong>, and <strong>Developer</strong> editions.</td></tr></tbody></table>

To define the audience, you select the users using either SQL in Automation Studio or Audience Builder. Make sure that Marketing Cloud Engagement can access the data tables. In core Salesforce, the tables must be replicated and synced as a Synchronized Data Source in Contact Builder. This process is assisted by the Marketing Cloud Connect package, but it’s not automatic. You must choose which tables you want to sync and the object must be replicable.

Note After object data is synced into Marketing Cloud Engagement, you can use the data to make decisions at junction points in a journey. Such junctions are known as decision splits.
