# Configure Your Self-Registration Page

After you decide which page type is best for your company, set up self-registration from the Login & Registration page in Experience Workspaces.

![Note](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-experience-communities-264-0-0-production-enus/bf7df212-91a1-4fa3-a007-4d6f3e3b470b/images/icon_note.png)

Note If you want even more control over self-registration, and you're familiar with Apex, you can customize your self-registration page and process by modifying the Apex controller. The customizations you make to this controller override the Login & Registration page settings. For steps, visit [Customize the Self-Registration Apex Controller](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.networks_self_reg_apex.htm&type=5&language=en_US).

1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter All Sites, and then select **All Sites**.
2. To access Experience Workspaces, next to your site name, click **Workspaces**.
3. From Experience Workspaces, select **Administration**, and then select **Login & Registration**.
4. Under Registration Page Configuration, select **Allow customers and partners to self-register**. If users attempt to register with a duplicate username, they receive an error message that their request can’t be completed, but administrators aren't notified.
5. Select the self-registration page type.

    1. To use the Default Page, select **Default Page**. You can customize the default page with Visualforce. For steps, see [Modify the Default Self-Registration Page](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.external_identity_self_registration_modify_default_page.htm&type=5&language=en_US).
    2. To use the Experience Builder Page, select **Experience Builder Page**, click ![lookup magnifying glass](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-experience-communities-264-0-0-production-enus/bf7df212-91a1-4fa3-a007-4d6f3e3b470b/communities/images/lookup.png), and then select **Register**. For more information on using Experience Builder to customize your page, see [Manage Your Site's Pages and Their Properties in Experience Builder](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.community_builder_manage_pages_overview.htm&type=5&language=en_US) .
    3. To use the Visualforce Page, select **Visualforce Page**, click ![lookup magnifying glass](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-experience-communities-264-0-0-production-enus/bf7df212-91a1-4fa3-a007-4d6f3e3b470b/communities/images/lookup.png), and then select a custom Visualforce page.
    4. To use the Configurable Self-Reg Page, select **Configurable Self-Reg Page**. Then visit [Use the Configurable Self-Reg Page for Easy Sign-Up](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.external_identity_login_discovery_create_config_self.htm&type=5&language=en_US) for detailed configuration steps.
    5. To use the Experience Builder Page, select **Experience Builder Page**, click ![lookup magnifying glass](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-experience-communities-264-0-0-production-enus/bf7df212-91a1-4fa3-a007-4d6f3e3b470b/communities/images/lookup.png), and then select **Register**. For more information on using Experience Builder to customize your page, see [Manage Your Site's Pages and Their Properties in Experience Builder](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.community_builder_manage_pages_overview.htm&type=5&language=en_US)

    ![Tip](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-experience-communities-264-0-0-production-enus/bf7df212-91a1-4fa3-a007-4d6f3e3b470b/images/icon_tip.png)

Tip If you’re trying out various page types, select the Default Page and save to clear your selections before choosing another page type.
6. For more control over your self-registration process, we sometimes recommend disabling the standard [Aura](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.rss_login_self_register.htm&type=5&language=en_US) and [Lightning Web Runtime (LWR)](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.exp_cloud_lwr.meta/exp_cloud_lwr/template_pages.htm) self-registration components. Select **Disable the standard components for self-registration on Aura and LWR sites** if your use case fits one or more of these scenarios.

    - You selected the Default, Visualforce, or Configurable Self-Reg page types.
    - You selected the Experience Builder page type and you want full control over the user information that your self-registration Apex controller can collect. After you disable the standard component, create a custom component for your use case.
    - You selected the Experience Builder page type and you don’t want to use the standard self-registration component that comes with your site type.

If you want to use the Experience Builder standard component that comes with your site type, leave this setting deselected to avoid breaking your flow.
7. For Profile, select the profile you want to assign to new users.
    1. Assign a cloned version of a standard site profile as the default for self-registration. For example, assign a cloned version of the External Identity User profile. Avoid using a standard site profile as the default.
    2. Use a restrictive profile as the default. If needed, open up access using permission sets or sharing rules.
8. For Account, follow the corresponding step based on your use case.
    1. To save new users as contacts of a business account, click ![lookup magnifying glass](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-experience-communities-264-0-0-production-enus/bf7df212-91a1-4fa3-a007-4d6f3e3b470b/communities/images/lookup.png), and then select the account you want to use.
    2. To save new users under individual person accounts, leave the Account field blank.
9. Save your settings.

The accounts and contacts created are owned and managed by the community administrator. After a batch is processed successfully, users receive an email with their login instructions.
