# Add Topics to Files

Topics make it possible to search for all the items that touch on a given topic. Topics added to Chatter posts are also added to any files in the post or its comments. When you search for those topics, the files are included in the results.

To add topics to files posted in Chatter feeds, [add topics to the post](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_topics_add.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Add topics to Chatter posts and comments to make it possible to search for all the items that touch on that topic. You can add topics to any posts at any time directly in the feed.") where the file is attached. You can add regular topics or [hashtag topics](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_add_topic.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "To organize Chatter posts and comments and make them easy to find, add topics."). The topics are automatically added to any files that are attached to the post or its comments.

Since Kimmy added the topics Sales Training, Western Region, and Feedback Request to a post, these topics are also added to the attached file. Now, coworkers can click on a topic to find other posts, files, and records associated with that topic.

In Lightning Experience, go to the **Related** tab to see all records with a topic. Click **View All** for the entire list, and sort by Object Type to see all the files with the topic.

In Salesforce Classic, go to the **Records** tab and choose **Files**. Otherwise, use the **Feed** tab to see all posts and files for the topic.
