# File Previews and Details

View and edit file details, and report on files.

    Preview a file to view it without downloading. View and update key details about a file from the File Details page.
- **[Remove a File from a Record](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_files_remove_from_record.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**  
    Remove a file from a single record that the file’s attached to. Unlike deleting a file, removing doesn’t affect the file on other records or posts, and the file remains in Files home. To remove files from records, you must have at least collaborator access on the file.

    When you delete a file from Salesforce Files, it’s also removed from all locations where it was shared.
