# Chatter Post Visibility

Learn where you can post in Chatter, who can see your posts, and whose posts you can see.

Anyone except [customers](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_external_overview.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Chatter customers are people outside your company's email domains. Customers can see only the groups they're invited to. They can interact only with members of those groups. Customers can’t see any Salesforce information.") can see your posts on your profile, and the people who follow you can see your posts in their Chatter feed. However, if you change a record, only the people who have permission to see the record can see the record update in a feed.

In Chatter, you see updates only from the people and records that you follow. Follow more records and people to see more updates in the Chatter feeds on your Home and Chatter tabs. In Salesforce Classic, click **People** on the Chatter tab to find a list of the people in your organization to follow or unfollow.

The posts that you add to a group are also visible on your profile. But who sees that post depends on the [group type](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_group_editing.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "To change a Chatter group’s owner, edit group settings. Only the current group owner and people with the Modify All Data permission can change the owner."). For example, when you post to a group that is:

- Public, anyone except customers can see the post on your profile.
- Private, only other group members can see the post on your profile.
- Private and allows customers, all members can see the post in the group. Customers who are members of the group can see your posts on the group page but not on your profile.
- Unlisted, only group members and users with Manage Unlisted Groups permission can see the post on your profile. Customers who are members of the group can see your posts on the group page but not on your profile.

Note Posts that are created on an Experience Cloud site are visible only within that site. If you try to access a post on an Experience Cloud site from your Salesforce org or from a different site, you get an error message that the post was deleted. To view the post, log in to the Experience Cloud site where the post was created. This issue doesn’t occur if the site is configured to allow guest user access.

Note You can’t create posts on archived groups. Comments on existing posts in an archived group follow the same visibility settings as before the group was archived.
