# File Privacy and Sharing

Keep your files private, or choose from a variety of sharing options.

- **[Who Can See My File?](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_files_settings_perms.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Your files in Salesforce can be private to you, privately shared, or visible to your entire company. Learn how to identify a file’s sharing settings and how to change them.
- **[Change File Access in Salesforce Classic](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_files_change_permission.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
File owners and collaborators can change file permissions for people and groups.
- **[Change File Access in Lightning Experience](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_files_change_access.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Decide who can view and modify the files that you own.
- **[Make a File Private](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_files_make_private.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
You can restrict access to shared files that you own by making them private.
- **[Make a File Private on a Record](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_files_make_private_on_record.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Use the **File Privacy on Records** setting to control who can see a file when it’s attached to a record. The setting is available when you edit a file’s details.
- **[Share Files with Groups](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_files_sharing_groups.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Share files in Chatter with public or private groups so that members of the groups can view and download the files from their feed.
- **[Share Files with People in Salesforce Classic](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_files_sharing_people.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Share files with people privately and set **Viewer** or **Collaborator** access for each person that you share the file with.
- **[Share Files with Libraries in Salesforce Classic](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_files_share_with_libraries.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Share files with libraries to take advantage of the permission-setting capabilities of content libraries while still using the features of Salesforce Files.
- **[Attach Files to Records](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_files_attach_records.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Attach files to records for a powerful way to collaborate and stay organized in Salesforce. Keep information on an opportunity, account, or case right where you need it. Share relevant documents with anyone with access to the record.
- **[Prevent Others from Sharing and Unsharing a File](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_files_freeze_sharing.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
You can prevent others from sharing and unsharing a file that you own. Preventing others from sharing or unsharing doesn’t affect existing shares.
- **[Share Files with People in Lightning Experience](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_files_sharing_people_lex.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Share files with people privately and set **Viewer** or **Collaborator** access for each person who you share the file with.
- **[Share Files Via Link](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_files_sharing_via_link.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Creating a public link generates a URL that you can copy and share with anyone inside or outside your company. Control access to the file with a password, or set the link to expire.
