# Filter Your Chatter Feed

Use filters to limit what appears in your Chatter feed to the items that match the selected filter.

### Required Editions

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small edition"><colgroup><col style="width:100%"></colgroup><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience</td></tr><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: <strong>Group</strong>, <strong>Essentials</strong>, <strong>Professional</strong>, <strong>Enterprise</strong>, <strong>Performance</strong>, <strong>Unlimited</strong>, <strong>Developer</strong>, and <strong>Contact Manager</strong> Editions</td></tr></tbody></table>

In Chatter, you can filter the feeds on the Chatter page, your profile, group pages, record detail pages, and search result pages. Filters aren’t available on all feeds, and some filter options aren’t available on all feeds that support filters.

On most feeds, filters are sticky. That is, they persist until you change them. For example, if you select the Company Highlights feed, and you navigate away from that page and come back, your filter selection doesn't change.

However, the landing feed is different. The landing feed is the feed that you see when you go to the Chatter tab. When you leave the Chatter tab, the filters don't stick. If you follow more than 10 things, you’re redirected to Company Highlights, otherwise you’re redirected to What I Follow.

- In Salesforce Classic, click ![down arrow](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-experience-collaboration-264-0-0-production-enus/1aab5b5e-c990-4b8c-840a-6fb18af49709/collaboration/images/chatter_feed_dropdown_arrow.png) next to **Show** and select a filter option. In Lightning Experience, click the filter feed icon next to the feed search field. If a filter option isn’t present, filters aren’t available for that feed.

Here are some of the filters that can appear on the list.

    - All Updates—Shows all posts and comments from:

        - The people and records that you follow
        - Posts from the groups that you’re a member of
        - All [system-generated posts](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.collab_feed_overview.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Follow people and records to see updates about them in Chatter. Updates appear in feeds on profiles, groups, the Chatter tab, topic detail pages, and on record detail pages.")

        ![Note](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-experience-collaboration-264-0-0-production-enus/1aab5b5e-c990-4b8c-840a-6fb18af49709/images/icon_note.png)

Note In the What I Follow feed, you see system-generated posts for changes to the tracked fields on all the people and entities that you follow. You don’t see system-generated posts for your own changes to tracked fields. To see system-generated posts for your own changes, look in your profile feed.

        ![Important](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-experience-collaboration-264-0-0-production-enus/1aab5b5e-c990-4b8c-840a-6fb18af49709/images/icon_important.png)

Important When you use the All Updates filter on a Lightning record page with custom components, you could notice a performance slowdown. To improve general page loading performance, the page loads in a specific order. Your page first loads the top feed items, then all components, then the remaining feed items. Custom components can require increased loading time, which delays loading times for the remaining feed items.
    - Fewer Updates
        - Shows all posts and comments from the people and records that you follow and the groups that you're a member of.
        - Hides system-generated posts from records that nobody has commented on.
    - People—Shows the posts and comments from the people that you follow.
    - Groups—Shows the posts in the groups that you're a member of.
    - Files—Shows posts that include:
        - Files that you follow.
        - File posts that someone you follow has commented on.

Example

Use the Fewer Updates filter to hide system-generated posts. For example, you’re following the Acme account, and the account executive for Acme creates an opportunity. Later, the account executive changes a tracked field on the Acme account. In both cases, Salesforce automatically generates an update about each change. Salesforce posts these updates to both your Chatter feed and the feed on the Acme account detail page. The Fewer Updates filter hides these system-generated posts in your feed, unless someone has commented on the posts. To see the system-generated posts, select the All Updates filter.
