# Custom Permission Sets in Data Cloud

To create a Data Cloud custom permission set, we recommend cloning an existing standard Data Cloud permission set. Some Data Cloud features can’t be accessed with permission sets created from scratch.

### Required Editions

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small permission">
      <colgroup>
        <col style="width:50%">
        <col style="width:50%">
      </colgroup>
      <thead class="slds-text-title_caps ">
        <tr class="">
          <th scope="colgroup" class="slds-cell-wrap" colspan="2" style="text-align:left;vertical-align:top;" id="d179810e36">User Permissions Needed</th>
        </tr>
      </thead>
      <tbody>
        <tr class="">
          <td data-label="User Permissions Needed" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d179810e36 ">To clone permission sets:</td>

          <td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d179810e36 ">Manage Profiles and Permission Sets</td>

        </tr>
      </tbody>
    </table>

Custom permission sets aren’t automatically updated when Data Cloud features get new permissions, even if they’re created by cloning a standard Data Cloud permission set.

When you clone a permission set, its data space associations are included in the new permission set. When you create a permission set from scratch, you must manually associate it with a data space.

- **[Add Object Permissions to Custom Permission Sets for Data 360](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=data.c360_a_add_object_permissions.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
    Object permissions for new Data Cloud objects are added to all standard Data Cloud permission sets when the new objects is added. However, object permissions for new objects but must be manually added to custom permission sets. Use these object permissions to update any custom Data Cloud permission sets that were created before the new object was added to Data Cloud.
