# Create a Target DLO from the Data Lake Objects Tab

One way to create a new Target Data Lake Object (DLO) is via the Data Lake Objects tab.

1. On the Data Lake Objects tab, click **New**.
2. Decide whether to use an existing DLO as a template or create a new one.
3. Enter a name and API name.

You can’t change these names after the object is created.
4. Select the appropriate category for the data in this DLO.

Category selection affects billing and DMO mapping. You can’t change the DLO’s category after it’s created. [Learn more about categories in Salesforce Help](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=data.c360_a_category.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "When creating a data stream, select a category or type of data found in that data stream.").
5. Review the DLO’s status. When the status is Active, you can add it to a streaming data transform.

Once you create your DLO, see [Set Up a Streaming Data Transform](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=data.c360_a_streaming_transform_setup.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "When you set up a streaming data transform, it reads and processes all records in the source and writes the data to the target object. The source and target objects must be different objects.") and follow the steps to create a data transform using an existing DLO as the target object.
