# Data Graph Statuses

Each data graph has two separate statuses: a status for metadata and a last run status for materialized data. These statuses work together to provide you with insight into the current configuration and refresh state of a data graph. Use them to monitor the data graph's lifecycle in Data Cloud, identify any issues, and determine if the data graph is ready for querying or further updates.

### Required Editions

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small edition"><colgroup><col></colgroup><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: <strong>All Editions</strong> supported by Data 360. See <a href="https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=data.c360_a_dc_editions.htm&amp;release=264.0.0&amp;type=5" title="Data 360 is available in several supported Salesforce editions. Some Data 360 features also require additional licenses.">Data 360 edition availability</a>.</td></tr></tbody></table>

When the two-status model is first enabled, some existing data graphs may still use the legacy consolidated status and will subsequently be migrated. If Status is None and Last Run Status contains another value, the data graph follows [Legacy Statuses](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=data.c360_a_data_graph_status.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5). Use the two status for granular data graph monitoring and perusal. Note that the Connect API will continue to return READY as Status on the connect APIs for the data graphs.

## Status

The current state of the data graph’s metadata.

- Draft: The data graph is a work in progress and not yet published. Editing is allowed.
- Processing: The data graph’s metadata is either syncing or updating.
- Error: The data graph ‌‌wasn’t created. There can be several reasons for this, such as it failed to sync or encountered a configuration error. You can fix the error by clicking the Retry button.
- Active: The data graph is saved, published, and synced. The Connect API returns this status as Ready.

## Last Run Status

The outcome of the most recent data refresh run.

- None: No refresh is triggered. This can occur if the data graph is still in draft or syncing.
- Processing: A refresh run is currently in progress.
- Success: The most recent refresh completed successfully.
- Failure: The most recent refresh failed and no previous successful runs exist. You can fix the failure by clicking Refresh Now.

## How Statuses Impact Actions

The combination of your data graph's status and last run status determines which actions you can perform, such as editing the data graph or initiating a data refresh.

Note Editing a data graph updates only its metadata. An edit doesn't automatically trigger a data refresh. To get the updated data, wait for the next incremental refresh cycle (if enabled) or the 24-hour full refresh cycle, or click Refresh Now.

## Troubleshooting Data Graph Status Issues

Use the following guidance to identify and resolve common data graph status issues.

- Status Shows Error: The data graph metadata encountered an issue. For example, it failed to sync or had a configuration error. Click the **Retry** button. This triggers the metadata sync process again and attempts to recover the data graph.
- Last Run Status Shows Failure: The most recent refresh job failed. This can occur for an incremental refresh job (for example, if the data graph is scheduled to refresh every hour) or for a full refresh job. The data graph recovers from a Failure state in the following ways automatically:
    - Manual: Click Refresh Now Clicking Refresh Now triggers a full refresh operation, which completely rebuilds the data graph from scratch.
    - Automatic: Next incremental refresh cycle (if incremental refresh is enabled) If the data graph has incremental refresh enabled, the transform is automatically triggered at the next scheduled incremental refresh cycle. No manual action is required.
    - Automatic: 24 hour full refresh cycle Every data graph has a 24 hour full refresh cycle. If neither a manual refresh nor an incremental refresh resolves the failure, the data graph is automatically refreshed within this cycle.

## Legacy Statuses

Use the Last Run Status column for older data graphs to track progress, identify issues, and take action.

- Draft: The data graph is a work in progress, and you can still edit it.
- Processing: The data graph isn’t yet ready to use.
- Error: The data graph ‌‌wasn’t created. This could be due to several reasons.
- Active: The update to the data graph data table was successful.
- Active with error: A previous version of the data graph data table is available, but the current data graph operation was unsuccessful.
- Active with processing: A previous version of the data graph data table is available. The current operation is processing.
