# Create an Activation Template

Create an activation template to define reusable activation configuration logic, including channel selections, source priority, contact point filters, enrichment data, and membership filtering. Apply this configuration when creating new activations or reference it in segment-triggered flows. Templates are created based on the combination of DMO and the activation destination, which allows you to reuse the same template across all activation targets for a given destination.

### Required Editions

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small edition"><colgroup><col></colgroup><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: <strong>All Editions</strong> supported by Data 360. See <a href="https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=data.c360_a_dc_editions.htm&amp;release=264.0.0&amp;type=5" title="Data 360 is available in several supported Salesforce editions. Some Data 360 features also require additional licenses.">Data 360 edition availability</a>.</td></tr></tbody></table>

Before you create a template, make sure:

- The Data 360 org has at least one data space configured.
- The data model objects (DMOs) relevant to your activation are mapped.

            </td>

          </tr>
        </tbody>
      </table>

1. In Data 360, go to **Activations** and click **New**.
2. Select **Template** and click **Continue**.
3. Select a data space.
4. Select a data model object (DMO), such as Individual or Unified Individual.

    You can apply the template only to activations or flows that use the same DMO.
5. Select the activation platform.

    Choose the platform type that matches your activation destinations, for example, Marketing Cloud, Data Cloud, S3, Ecosystem, or Ad Audiences partner targets.
6. Click **Next**.
7. Select the contact points to include in the template, such as email, phone (SMS), or WhatsApp.
8. (Optional) For each contact point, click **Edit** to define the source priority order.
    1. Click **Add Another Source**.
    2. Select a source (for example, Amazon S3) and specify a source object, such as Lead, Prospect, or Customer, to prioritize specific record types.
    3. Arrange the rows in the source priority table so that higher-priority sources appear first.
9. (Optional) Click **Add Filters** for a contact point to define filter criteria applied to contact point DMOs or consent DMOs.
    1. Click **Next**.
    2. For each contact point, click **Add Filters** to add contact point filters.
    3. Drag attributes from the attribute library to the canvas. Use attributes from contact point DMOs or consent DMOs (for example, to add GDPR or messaging consent filters).
    4. Define the filter criteria. To apply nested logic, use AND or OR operators. You can nest up to three levels.
    5. Click **Done**.
10. (Optional) Configure activation membership filtering to define criteria for which segment members are included.
    1. Under **Activation Membership**, click **Add Filters**.
    2. Drag attributes from the list to the canvas and define the filter criteria.
    3. Click **Save**.
11. (Optional) To include direct or related attributes in the template, click **Add Attributes**.
    1. Drag up to 100 attributes to the canvas.
    2. (Optional) For each selected DMO, click **Add Filters** to apply attribute-level filters. Drag attributes from the attribute library to the canvas, define the filter criteria, and use AND or OR operators for nested logic up to three levels.
    3. Click **Done**, and then click **Save**.
12. For each selected DMO, set the attribute limits.
    1. Select the maximum attribute values to include per contact point.
    2. Select how to sort the attribute data.
13. Click **Next**.
14. Enter a name and description for your template.
15. Click **Save**.

After you save the activation template, you can choose it when creating activations to supported platforms and DMOs. You can also use it in segment-triggered flows.

To use the template when creating an activation, see [Use an Activation Template When Creating an Activation](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=data.c360_a_use_activation_template.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Use an activation template when creating an activation to automatically fill in settings like contact points, source priority, filters, and enrichment data. You can then review and adjust these settings before saving your activation.").
