# Preview Results in a Batch Data Transform

Catch mistakes early by reviewing the results of each node and transformation that you add to a batch data transform. Each user can initiate up to 4,000 previews per hour. The preview shows a sample of the latest available data, up to 5,000 rows.

When you preview a DLO transform, the data preview applies the data space filter for the selected data space. However, when the transform is actually run, this filter is not applied, and all data within the DLO is processed.

DMOs always have an associated data space and the data space filter is consistently applied both when viewing the data preview and when running the transform.

1. In the batch data transform, select a node in the canvas to view its results.

If you add a Filter node, the preview filters the currently sampled rows. For example, the batch data transform processes 20,000 rows. The preview shows 5,000 sample rows for the Aggregate node. If you add a Filter node after the Aggregate node, you might see only 4,000 of the same sampled rows. The preview doesn’t retrieve an updated sample of 5,000 rows for the Filter node.
2. If needed, edit the node to ensure that it produces the correct results.
3. In a Transform node, select a transformation step.

If needed, edit the transformation to ensure that it produces the correct results. If the data preview for a node doesn’t complete immediately, view its build status at a glance with the progress wheel. Mouse over the wheel to see the percent built.
4. To focus on columns that are impacted by a node or transformation, hide a column from the preview.

Hiding a column from preview doesn’t remove it from the data transform, but it can increase performance when previewing results. By default, the first 100 columns of each source object in an input node are shown in preview. To hide a column that doesn’t require preview, select it and click the Hide button in the Transform toolbar.

    1. In the Preview tab, select a column in the Preview tab.
    2. Click the Hide button ![Hide button](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-data-data_cloud-264-0-0-production-enus/f3569962-3c9b-4f83-9d0c-b6a574e785da/data_cloud/images/hideIcon.png).
    3. To increase preview performance, click **Hide Unused** in the Transform toolbar.
5. If data preview is delayed, disable data preview. You can always turn it back on when you want to see your progress.
6. To view only the columns and hide the data, click the **Columns** tab.
7. Save the data transform.
