Returns/Refunds/Exchanges

Appeasements

What it does: Store associates can edit an order after it's been completed/fulfilled to provide a partial refund to provide appeasement to the customer at the item or order level (for any reason, such as a price match, delayed shipment, damaged item, poor customer experience, or overcharge).

Setting up is a three-step process: Configure the level of edit order you want to permit, set up the discount reason codes for item and order levels, and lastly, verify you have the correct approval policy set up and reason codes to limit edit orders and appeasement to specific roles.

  1. To turn on edit order (including Appeasements):
    1. In the CMS, go to Store Management > Store Settings > OMS.
    2. Expand Advanced.
    3. Specify the types of edit order flows you want to approve under Allow Editing of Order (editOrderOptions), select one of these options:
      • EDIT_ORDER: Permits online orders to be edited (for example delete products, cancel order). This behaves the same as "Allow Editing of Order" (allowEditOrder)*. For more information on edit order functionalities and how they work, refer to this article.
      • APPEASEMENT: Permits price overrides on both in-store and online products.
      • EDIT_ORDER_AND_APPEASEMENT: Permits all functionalities supported in both order editing and appeasements
      • NOT_ALLOWED: Doesn't permit online orders to be edited (for example delete products, cancel order). This behaves the same as if "Allow Editing of Order" (allowEditOrder)* is turned off.
    4. Under Appeasement Policy Window In Days (appeasementPolicyWindowInDays), set the number of days allowed for editing an order. For example, if the window is set to 5 days, line item price overrides and transaction discounts won't be allowed after five days.
      Note
Note All appeasement-related functionality adheres to the rules of the appeasement window:
      • EDIT_ORDER: Appeasement window is irrelevant
      • APPEASEMENT: If window has passed, no discounts can be applied at either the line or order level
      • EDIT_ORDER_AND_APPEASEMENT: If window has passed, discounts can only be applied at the order level, not at the item level
      • NOT_ALLOWED: Not applicable as order editing isn't allowed
The "Allow Editing of Order" (allowEditOrder) flag will be deprecated and is currently supported only for app builds before version 10.2.1. For app builds 10.2.1 and later, use "Allow Editing of Order" (editOrderOptions), as the POS app doesn’t support the allowEditOrder flag. The Appeasement Policies in Point of Sale CMS.
  2. Create reason codes:
    1. In CMS, go to Store Management > Reason Codes.
    2. Create codes for Item Level Discount and Transaction Level Discount. For more detailed instructions, refer to this article.
  3. Create an approval return policy:
    1. In CMS, go to Store Management > Associates > Return Policy Configuration.
    2. Select Create in the upper right.
    3. Under Policy Feature, select "Appeasement."
    4. Under Approval Roles, select the roles allowed to complete appeasements on the POS app.The Create Associate Approval Policy section of Point of Sale CMS.
