## Configuring Timeouts

Set timeouts on both the device and app configuration to make sure that customers remain logged in during their sessions.

### Store Settings

With the Store Settings, the timeout is applied globally to all the registers.

1. In CMS, go to **Store Management > Store Settings > Transaction**.
2. Under **Cart Session Expiry Duration in Seconds**, enter the timeout in seconds.
3. Save your changes.

### App Config

With the App Config, the timeout is applied to a specific app configuration and overrides the Store Settings.

1. In CMS, go to **Apps > All**.
2. Edit the app configuration you want to configure the timeout.
3. Go to **Modules > Settings**.
4. Under **Enable Session Time**, turn on this flag.
5. Under **Session Timeout in Seconds**, enter the timeout in seconds. The minimum is 120 seconds.
6. Save your changes.

### Store Associate Session

You can configure the amount of time a store associate can be logged into the app before being automatically logged out. If this isn't configured, the timeout defaults to eight hours.

1. In CMS, go to **Store Management > Store Settings > Associate**.
2. Under **Length of associate session in seconds on login**, enter the timeout in seconds.
3. Save your changes.

### Customer Profile Login Session

You can also configure the amount of time a customer profile can be logged. This only logs out the customer as the store associate remains logged in and items remain in the cart.

1. In CMS, go to **Store Management > Store Settings > Checkout**.
2. Expand **Advanced**.
3. Under **Customer Login Session Length**, enter the timeout in minutes.
4. Save your changes.

### iPad

Configure the amount of time that elapses before the iPad turns off the display and swipe the screen to resume.

1. On the iPad, go to **Settings > Display & Brightness**.
2. Tap **Auto-Lock**.
3. Select the timeout.
