# Reward Card Support in POS

The POS app provides an option to purchase reward cards and redeem them as tender when placing an order. Purchasing a reward card is always associated with an order. If a customer’s purchase is more than a specific amount, a store associate can issue a reward card to the customer. Reward cards can be redeemed as a tender in any future purchases by the customer.

## Prerequisites

- Version 5.7.2 or higher is required for this feature.
- This feature requires integration with your Reward Card Provider using Point of Sale APIs.
- The purchase flow can be added to the POS app by adding the following deep link:
    - **Deeplink** | **Products** | **Purchase Reward Card**.
- Merchants should have the [multi-tender feature](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.rt_pos_checkout_multitender_config.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Accept payments across multiple credit cards and other tenders in a single transaction. Configure the supported tenders and customize their display order in your POS app.") enabled to redeem a reward card as a tender for an order.
- Reward cards can be added as tender in the multi-tender flow by going to:
    - **CMS** | **Store Management** | **Store Settings**.

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small " summary="Support"><caption>Support</caption> <colgroup><col style="width:50%"> <col style="width:50%"></colgroup><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Offline Capability</td><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">No</td></tr><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">iPad UX</td><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Yes</td></tr><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">iPhone UX</td><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">No</td></tr></tbody></table>

## Purchasing a Reward Card

When a store associate clicks on the purchase reward card deep link, the app will ask for order details, a reward card number, a reward card expiry date, and an amount. Once the details are entered and applied, the app will check if there's already a reward card issued on the entered order ID. If so, the app will show a warning message. The store associate can continue the flow by clicking **Yes**. Once the reward card purchase is successful, the app will show the approval code and the option to print a receipt.

## Redeeming a Reward Card

A store associate can select the reward card as a tender if the customer wants to redeem their card for the purchase. The app will ask for a reward card number, pin, and the amount, which can be redeemed for the order purchase. The app will show the reward card balance so that the customer can decide to apply this balance towards the purchase. The store associate can click **Cancel** to not proceed, or **Apply** to proceed. The store associate can place the order if the applied tender(s) covers the order total amount.

## Known Issues & Restrictions

Refunds to reward cards are not supported. Because of this limitation, a refund of an order paid with a reward card is not supported unless tender remapping is configured. The POS uses tender remapping to force the refund to another tender, not the original reward card. See [Returns Policy Configuration](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.rt_cms_settings_returns_policy_configuration.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "The Point of Sale (POS) app lets store associates perform returns on purchased items based on configured policies.").
