# Set Item & Transaction Level Limits in the POS app

Control discounts applied in your POS app by setting maximum limits for items and transactions. These limits are checked against the order total after promotions. Require manager approval if the order total exceeds the set maximum discount amount or percentage.

- Modern POS App Build: 8.9.1 or above
- Platform Support: iPhone & iPad
- Offline Support: No

For builds 8.9.1 and above, the maximum discount amount is checked for any dollar-off discount during checkout. Similarly, the maximum discount percentage is checked for any percentage-off discount.

Note This setting applies to both item and transaction levels (for example a $100 limit applies to both any specific item discount or a transaction discount).

1. In CMS, go to **Store Management** | **Store Settings** | **Cash**.
2. Under Transaction Limits, set the fields.
3. Click **Save**.
