Laway and Deposit POS App Flow

Customers can reserve items with a down payment and adjust deposit amounts as needed. The app supports various tender types, including Pay by Link for compatible versions, enhancing payment flexibility.

Creating a Layaway Order

When an associate starts the Layaway Order from the multitender screen, they are asked for a first Deposit Amount. The Suggested Minimum Deposit is already filled in. This amount is calculated as 25% of the total sum. The associate can adjust the Deposit Amount, however, it can't be lower than the Suggested Minimum Deposit. After the deposit amount is entered, the associate can add tender(s) to cover the deposit amount and the order is placed.

Adding a Deposit to an Order

After you land on the multitender screen, the Deposit toggle is enabled by default. The Suggested Minimum Deposit prepopulates the Deposit Amount. It is calculated from the total cost of in-store items and 25% of the total cost of online items.

The associate can adjust the Deposit Amount by tapping on the pencil icon. The Deposit Amount must exceed the Required Deposit, calculated as the total sum of all in-store items.

If the edited amount exceeds the Required Deposit but falls short of the Suggested Minimum Deposit, a window appears requesting confirmation.

After confirmationion, the associate can add tender(s) to cover the deposit amount and the order is placed.

Known Issues & Restrictions

  • Layaway orders can't be created if the cart contains in-store items— they are reserved exclusively for items designated for pick up later or delivery.
  • Deposits can't be applied to an order comprised solely of in-store items.
  • After adding a tender, the deposit amount can't be changed. To modify the deposit, the associate must first remove all applied tenders before adjusting the deposit amount.
  • Deposits made with Pay by Link (both in-store and remote) are supported for app builds 10.7.1 or greater via the multitender screen. Note, PBL can only be applied to the full deposit amount. If an order has already been paid for and is marked as completed, PBL can't be used. If the order status is changed to partial or any other status other than completed when the deposit is made, PBL can't be used. See Pay by Link Overview.
