Sales associates can view deposit details, initiate multitender flows, and adjust orders with deposits. Deposits are automatically calculated based on product and tax rules. The deposit details can be found in the TLogs, so merchants can locate tokenized information and shopper references.
Sales
If a product added to the cart meets the rules set in the deposit configuration settings, the required deposit will be listed under the product details. To make a deposit, initiate the multitender flow.
The required deposit is the sum of the deposits for the products and tax. This deposit value can be edited, but if it's lower than the required amount, an error will be displayed. If using a credit card on an Adyen terminal, the screen asks for a shopper’s consent. This is because the app receives tokenized details from the Adyen terminal, requiring consent. If consent is given, the credit card can be used to pay the deposit. After the order is placed, the tokenized details can be found in the TLogs.
Returns
When returning an order, the deposit details are listed under the product. For orders that haven't been completed yet (for example pick up later), the system checks their eligibility to cancel a return. If not eligible, the item is prevented from being returned (the toggle is disabled). However, for in-store products that have been paid in full, returns are allowed. If the order balance is zero, the return will be processed. If an amount is owed to the customer, it follows the normal return flow.
Exchanges
If customers exchange for a higher-priced product, the deposit adjusts automatically to the full amount. For a lower-priced product, customers receive a refund for the difference instead.
Editing Orders
When editing an order, the deposit details are listed under the product. Tap Modify Order to add products to the cart. Deposit details include the deposit paid and the balance required, displayed under the order total. If a product in the order is deleted, the order can be refunded if the deposit amount is greater than the minimum deposit. If a product is added to the cart, store associates can proceed with multitendering to complete the checkout.
Reporting
Deposit details can be found in the TLogs under the attributes, "depositSummary", "requiredDeposit", "depositBalance", and "depositProductDetails". If the order has been tokenized with a credit card or Tap to Pay, the details can be found under the attribute, "cardToken". Merchants use this token to make further payments. If a shopper reference is needed, merchants can use the "orderId" attribute, which can also be found in the TLogs.
Known Issues & Restrictions
- Errors may occur when processing a refund and exchanging it for a new product.
- Deposit returns won’t function correctly without a deposit configuration.
