# Configure Discounts and Price Corrections for POS

Configure the Point of Sale settings and manager approval policies for discounts and price corrections before applying them in the POS app. You can also limit the changes that associates can make.

## Allow Item-Level Discounts, Price Corrections, and Tax Exemptions

Select which fulfillment types allow item-level discounts and price corrections, and control whether associates can apply tax exemptions to individual products.

1. In CMS, go to **Apps**.
2. To edit you store’s app configuration, hover over your store’s iPad image, then click ![pencil icon](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-commerce-retail-264-0-0-production-enus/17d647fb-8988-49fb-9add-c4f4cc79c9e4/retail/images/pos_pencil_icon.png) **Edit**.
3. Go to **Modules** | **POS**.
4. Under Discounts & Overrides, edit the **Product-Level Discounts, Overrides, and Tax Exemptions** setting.

## Enable Transaction-Level Discounts

Let associates apply a discount to an entire transaction instead of to individual items at checkout.

1. In CMS, go to **Apps**.
2. To edit you store’s app configuration, hover over your store’s iPad image, then click ![pencil icon](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-commerce-retail-264-0-0-production-enus/17d647fb-8988-49fb-9add-c4f4cc79c9e4/retail/images/pos_pencil_icon.png) **Edit**.
3. Go to **Modules** | **POS**.
4. Under Discounts & Overrides, turn on **Transactional Discounts**.

## Set Discount Limits

Configure the maximum amount or percentage discount that a store associate can apply without requiring a manager's override.

1. In CMS, go to **Store Management** | **Store Settings** | **Cash**.
2. Expand **Transaction Limits**.
3. Set the maximum amount or maximum percentage that a store associate can apply at checkout.

## Exclude Price-Corrected Items from Promotions

Control whether promotions apply to items that have a manual price correction, so associates can set a final price without stacking an extra promotional discount.

Note This feature is available in POS app builds 12.5.1 and later, including in offline mode.

1. In CMS, go to **Store Management** | **Store Settings** | **Promotion**.
2. Turn on **Exclude Price-Corrected Items from Promotions**.
    
    When this setting is off, price corrections and promotions stack on the same item, which is the default behavior.

## Create Manager Approval Policies for Manual Discounts and Price Corrections

Configure approval policies for both item-level and transaction-level discounts and price corrections. When these policies are in place, manager credentials authorize adjustments made in the POS app.

1. In CMS, go to **Store Management** | **Associates** | **Approval Policies Configuration**.
2. Click **Create**.
3. For Policy Feature, select:
    - Line Item Discount for item-level discounts.
    - Transaction Discount for transaction-level discounts.
    - Price Correction for price overrides.
4. For Approving Policies, select roles that can approve this policy.

## Create Reason Codes for Discounts and Price Corrections

Configure [Reason Codes](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.rt_cms_settings_reason_codes.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Configure reason codes in Point of Sale (POS) to track the reasons behind actions, such as discounts or inventory adjustments.") for discounts made on the app before creating them.

1. In CMS, go to **Store Management** | **Reason Codes**.
2. Create codes for item-level discounts, transaction-level discounts, and price corrections.
