# Adyen 2024 Pay by Link (PBL) Updates in Point of Sale for EU Merchants

For EU merchants using Pay By Link (PBL), Adyen has added three fields: Browser IP Address, Cardholder Name, and Cardholder Email Address or Cardholder Phone Number. Adyen automatically handles the Browser IP Address, but the other two require configuration in both the CMS and your Adyen account portal.

If you’re using Verifone, these mandatory fields are captured by Verifone’s PBL process, so no additional setup is needed.

## Who needs to update?

Any merchant using Pay by Link in the EU.

## What’s changed?

These fields need to be included in all PBL requests:

- Browser IP Address
- Cardholder Name
- Cardholder Email Address or Cardholder Phone Number

Name and email capture require configuration in Adyen and RetailCloud, respectively. Merchants ‌must submit the information if it’s not included with the order. Adyen automatically sends the IP address with the request.

## What do I need to do?

To comply with these new requirements, make the following configurations:

- In your Adyen portal, update the setting **Pay by link** | **Settings** under Name on card.
- In CMS, go to **Integrations** | **Payment Gateways** and edit your [Adyen configuration](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.rt_cms_hardware_ayden_gateway_info.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "You can configure different payment gateways at the store level, such as store-level settlements, reporting, and currency requirements and integrate Adyen into Point of Sale.") and enable Require Customer Email to be Submitted.

## What Changes in the Shopper Experience?

If there's no customer email associated with the order, Adyen requests the customer's email as part of the user flow. Note that this adds an extra step to the checkout process for customers.

## What if I don't want the extra step for shoppers?

We recommend keeping this setting enabled, but don't use guest checkout and make sure an email is attached to each customer record.
