# Point of Sale CMS Store Associate Custom Roles

Create custom roles for store associates in Point of Sale CMS so that you can establish approval policies.

The Custom Roles page allows you to create custom roles (for example Senior Associate, Junior Manager, and so on) in addition to the default roles (for example Store Associate, Store Manager, Area Manager) for users.

## Viewing Roles

In CMS, go to Store Management > Associates > Associate Roles. The page has three default roles (Store Associate, Store Manager, Area Manager). If you don't see these defaults, contact Salesforce Customer Service.

## Creating Roles

1. Select**Create**on the top right of the screen. A dialogue box appears.
2. Input **Role Label** (for example Junior Associate).
3. Input **Role Value** (for example JUNIOR\_ASSOCIATE). The Role Value field can't contain spaces.
4. Assign an app config to the role.
5. Select **Save**.

## Deleting Roles

1. Select **Delete**, denoted by a trash can.
2. Select **Confirm**.

Tip Roles can't be edited. Delete and create a new one in order to modify a role.

The roles that are configured here will be used for setting approval policies. More details can be found in [CMS Store Associate Approval Policies](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.rt_cms_store_associate_approval_policies.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Control which features and roles in Point of Sale CMS require approval.").
