Understand the types of users and roles supported by Platform Services (PS) for both Content Management Solution (CMS) and POS solutions. CMS users, with Google account authentication, access configuration, and management tools, and admins can create additional roles and link users.
What are the different types of users and roles supported by PS?
There are two sets of users: CMS & POS Solution.
- CMS users have access to configuration and management tools. We provide two admin users and out-of-the-box roles. Brands can assign admins, who in turn create more users. Admins can create additional roles and link users to the roles in the CMS.
- POS has two roles: associate and Manager. All users and roles can be managed via CMS or API.
How does CMS user auth work?
CMS user auth is done via Google Auth. All CMS users must have a Google account to log in. This Google account can be linked to your personal email account.
How does Store associate auth work?
Store associates log in to the POS app. POS communicates to PS Cloud and authenticates the users.
How do we provide different tasks for different roles?
On POS, you can have different app configs defined that perform different tasks. Each app configuration can be linked to a user, which on login gives only those options.
What can CMS users do?
CMS users can load products, define POS UI, define functions, build promotions, set tax tables, limits, and so on.
Is SSO supported?
SSO is not supported for POS app, this is to support POS in offline mode.
Can we create users via API?
Yes, our API spec is available that allows user management from a remote system. The API spec can be found in Point of Sale API, SPI, and Webhook Specs.
What about users and tiles for merchants in multiple regions?
CMS users and roles need to be created only once. All CMS users of a merchant have access to all regions however, store associates are region-specific.
