# Offline Promotion Logs

Set up promotions in Point of Sale CMS so that your point of sale (POS) app can download the latest promotions in offline mode.

With the Offline Promotion feature, Point of Sale will generate an updated active promotion list file every hour. This will allow the POS app to download the file in offline mode.

## Set Up an Offline Promotion Job

- Go to **Store Management > Offline Configuration**.
- Turn on **Enable offline promotions active**.
- Select **Save**.

This will turn on the Offline Promotion updating request, which runs every hour. However, there's no way to check the request running status in CMS.

## Create, Update, or Delete a Promotion

After creating, updating, or deleting a promotion, a new promotion list regenerates every hour starting at 00:00 (12 AM).

## Upload a Promotion File

1. Go to **Promotions**.
2. ‌Select **Import Promotion**. This will upload the promotion in a JSON file.

## Download an Offline Promotion

1. In the app, select the **Offline Logs** deep link (will typically be configured in **Hamburger Menu > More > Offline Logs or Hamburger Menu > Offline Logs**).
2. Select "**Download All**" to trigger download of Offline Promotions.

Promotions aren't automatically downloaded after Modern POS is relaunched. Only at the time of relaunch does Modern POS automatically refresh if the created date and time is greater than the current date and time. Automatic refresh promotions (provided in CMS: **Store Management -> Offline Configuration -> General Settings -> Offline Database Refresh Time**) and select "**Download All**" forces Modern POS to ignore the created date and time.

## Check an Offline Promotion

1. Download the most recent offline promotion list in the app.
2. Add a product to the cart and apply a promotion to it.
3. Verify the updated promotion file by going to **Offline Logs** in the app.
