Offer customers no-cost or discounted shipping with Point of Sale's No-Cost shipping promotion. You can set up rules to automatically apply no-cost shipping to eligible orders at checkout on the POS app.

As of March 2025, Point of Sale offers two types of no-cost shipping (V1 and V2). Each version has different features.

To use V2, update your app builds to 10.8.1 or higher. Support is still available for V1, but use app builds 10.7.1 or lower to successfully apply V1 no-cost shipping. Only one type of no-cost shipping (V1 or V2) will be allowed to use and apply on the POS app.

To show shipping discounts at the line-item level at checkout and on receipts, first delete or deactivate any No-cost Shipping promotions you’ve configured in CMS. Because the No-Cost Shipping promotion applies at the delivery-group level, it overrides item-level shipping discounts sent using the Delivery Group SPI.

View No Cost Shipping in the Point of Sale App

View how no-cost shipping is applied in the Point of Sale (POS) app.

For V1 promotions, after adding a valid promotion to the cart, the Shipping Options window will display all shipping methods as no-cost (for example $0). After selection, the cart summary will note the shipping charges as no cost.

For V2 promotions, the Shipping Options window will display all shipping methods in the Shipping Options modal will appear as no cost (for example, $0). Once a method is selected, the cart summary will display individual shipping discounts. These discounts will apply to each eligible item (for example, -$5.00). Shipping discounts are shown in the quote summary, order history, and virtual receipt on the terminal. However, these views show only the total shipping discount, not item-level breakdowns. The cart summary is the only place where individual item shipping discounts are detailed.

Note
Note For this feature, you need to enable Allow Multiple Shipping Addresses Per Order in the Omnichannel settings and be on app version 11.1.1 or later.

View Electronic No Cost Shipping in Point of Sale CMS

Observe shipping records in JSON or in an Electronic Journal.

JSON

Both V1 and V2 at no-cost shipping promotions are recorded in the JSON (XML coming soon), but they are reported differently. For example, consider an original shipping cost of $10 with a no-cost shipping promotion of $10, resulting in no-cost shipping ($0). In V1, the shippingDiscount field doesn't exist, while in V2, the field records the applied discount as 10.00.

Additionally, for V2 no-cost shipping promotions, the priceAdjustment list under the selected shipping method of the cart or DeliveryGroup (deliveryGroups.shippingMethod.priceAdjustments) will display promotion details. This isn't applicable for V1.

Electronic Journal

The Electronic Journal will display shipping discounts in the “Total Discounts” column. This will show you the total value of all your shipping discount groups combined, rather than separating them individually.
