# Finding Items to Be Adjusted

Scan and locate serialized items to more easily track inventory adjustments in Point of Sale CMS's Point of Sale (POS) app.

You can start scanning items to be adjusted either using an external scanner or the device's camera by tapping the scan icon at the top right. Alternatively, you can search for items using the search function. The product catalog will display, allowing users to search for items by entering text. Alternatively, using an external scanner populates the search field with the product's barcode value.

After the item is scanned or found, the adjustment quantity can be set using either -/+ or manually entering a value in the text field. If you decrease the value, it reduces both theOn Hand and Available [inventory buckets](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.rt_pos_inventory_mgmt_buckets.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Point of Sale supports the following inventory buckets - Sellable Quantity, Allocated Quantity, Safety Stock, Quantity On Hand, Quantity In Transit, Quantity On Order, Not for sale, Returned items, and Floor/Demo items."). Conversely, increasing the quantity raises both the On Hand and Available inventory buckets.

After confirming, the batch lists the scanned items' details along with the adjusted quantity.

## Serialized Items to Be Adjusted

For app builds 10.1.1 or greater, if[serialized inventory](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.rt_pos_inventory_serialized_products.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Point of Sale supports the management of serialized product inventory. In inventory processes such as transfers and receivings, any serialized products must have their serial numbers scanned or manually entered. The following inventory flows support serialized products: Blind Receivings, Store to Store (STS) Transfers, Return to Vendor (RTV), and Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN).") is enabled, adjustments to serialized products can only be increased or decreased by one unit. These products are identified by the `SerialNumberRequired` attribute in the [Product Feed](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.rt_adv_config_data_feeds_specs_product.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Create a robust user experience in the POS app by viewing product details such as search results and filters."). If this attribute is set to True and serialized inventory is enabled, you'll be prompted to scan or enter the serial number. Conversely, if disabled but the product attribute is set to False, no prompt appears. For increases in adjustments, entering or scanning the serial number is mandatory. For decreases, providing the serial number is optional.

Each serialized item is listed individually with a quantity of 1, while nonserialized products are grouped based on duplicate counts. An error message will appear if products share the same serial number.

Note The POS app only verifies whether serial numbers are duplicates and doesn't validate the accuracy of entered serial numbers.
