Configure Cycle Count Options

Improve cycle counts using serialized inventory and bulk entry to identify and track individual items uniquely in Point of Sale CMS.

During a cycle count, editing quantities or deleting items from a batch isn't possible. However, new items can be added, and existing item quantities can be increased by scanning them again. Scanning a serialized item prompts the user to enter its serial number, preventing duplicates.

Configure Serialized Inventory

Serialized inventory, in terms of inventory management, refers to individual items that are uniquely identified and tracked. To support this feature for cycle counts:

  1. In CMS, go to Store Management > Store Settings > OMS.
  2. Expand Advanced.
  3. Turn on Enable Serialized Inventory.
  4. Set SerialNumberRequired to True for all serialized product settings.

Scanning a serialized item prompts the user to enter its serial number. Scanning the same serial number across multiple batches results in posting multiple quantities for the same serialized item.

Entering multiple serial numbers appends them to the list. An error message appears if products share the same serial number. The Point of Sale (POS) app only checks if the serial numbers are the same. It doesn't check if the serial numbers you enter are correct.

Configure Bulk Entry

Bulk entry refers to the process of adding more than one item or product to the inventory system simultaneously. Instead of manually entering each item's information one by one, bulk entry allows you to input data for multiple items at once. This can be used for receiving cases of products, such as in a winey. Other examples include seasonal items like clothing or holiday products. In the context of furniture retail, it can be used to update inventory for different furniture types in a single entry.

  1. In CMS, go to Store Management > Store Settings > OMS.
  2. Expand Advanced.
  3. Turn on Enable Bulk Receiving of Items.
