# Set Up a Receipt Layout

Set up custom Point of Sale receipt layouts by configuring store-level print receipts and using templates for order returns. Learn to disable receipts and revert to layouts from Modern POS 7.16.5 and earlier, ensuring consistent and tailored customer experiences.

Note To use receipt layout generation found in Modern POS 7.16.5 and prior, don't configure a receipt template for the given receipt type. Modern POS will fall back on the prior implementation.

## Configure Store-Level Print Receipts

To configure store-level print receipts:

In CMS, go to **Store Management** | **Store Settings** | **Print Receipts**.

Configure the settings using the table below:

Store settings for printer supported and languages must be set for the receipt layout to be rendered correctly. App config settings are the fallback configuration when there are no receipt layouts configured. For App Config Settings, go to **Modules** | **POS** | **Receipt** | **Receipt Configuration**. Receipt layouts are only configured at the merchant-level. They are not set for a given app config.

## Create a Receipt Layout

To create a receipt layout from scratch:

1. In CMS, go to **Layouts** | **Layout Templates** | **Print Receipts**.
2. Click **Create** in the top right of the screen.
3. Under Receipt Layout Name, assign a name to be remembered.
4. Under Receipt Type, select the receipt type.
5. Under Language, select the language to associate this template with.
6. Fill out and edit the appropriate sections.
7. Click **SAVE**.

## Disable a Receipt Layout

If you wish to disable a receipt layout and use the layout generation found in Modern POS 7.16.5 and prior, there are two ways to do so:

1. In the toolbar under Receipt type select **Remove option** and click **Save**.
2. Delete the receipt layout by clicking the trash icon next to the receipt layout.

## Configure Languages

Configuring different languages in receipt layouts is supported and they are configured at the layout level using the dropdown in the right toolbar as noted in [Creating a Receipt Layout](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.rt_cms_layouts_templates_receipt.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Customize Point of Sale receipts to enhance customer experiences. Configure store-level print receipts and use templates for order returns. The Receipt Layout editor allows you to tailor headers, footers, and item details. However, the languages available in that pulldown must first be configured in the store settings as noted in [Creating a Receipt Layout](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.rt_cms_layouts_templates_receipt.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Customize Point of Sale receipts to enhance customer experiences. Configure store-level print receipts and use templates for order returns. The Receipt Layout editor allows you to tailor headers, footers, and item details. 1. In CMS, go to **Store Management** | **Store Settings** | **Print Receipts**.
2. Under Language supported, add the supported languages and set a default. By setting a default, if a layout doesn't exist for a configured layout then the default language layout will be used instead.
3. Set and save your changes.
4. Back in CMS, go to **Layouts** | **Layout Templates** | **Print Receipts**.
5. Create or edit an existing layout.
6. Under Language, select the language for the layout.
7. Save your changes.
