  • Technical Prerequisites: Specific email types must be supported by Point of Sale's platform and configured correctly to be sent to users. Important
Important When a template is published it becomes live immediately. Changes should always be tested and verified in Staging before making changes in Production.

The configuration settings mentioned in this article are managed at the merchant account level.

Template Syntax

  • The starting tag inside the <body> must be a <table> tag with a width of 100%.
  • Don't forget to write alt property with the image; it’s a required field in HTML email design.
  • Keep one inner table inside the outer table and keep the width under 600 pixels.
  • Set every <table> tag with this style:
    style="margin:0; padding:0; cellpadding:0; cellspacing:0;"
  • Style every <td> tag from the property with this style:
    style="margin:0 auto;"
  • Use inline CSS in your HTML email.
  • Assign the style the <table> tag instead of the <body> tag.
  • Float and position are not supported in the email client.
  • Always define the CSS property individually:

    Correct way:

    style="border-width:1px; border-style:solid; border-color:grey;"

    Incorrect way:

    style="border:1 px solid grey;"
  • Avoid using a background-image property.
  • Avoid adding JavaScript in HTML code as it will make the email stripped.

Converting Editable Tags

You may come across templates with non-editable tags (noted with a locked icon). As these tags are locked, this means that they cannot be adjusted for size. To accommodate this, Point of Sale offers the ability to convert these tags to editable, allowing the user to customize them.

  1. Create a template.
  2. Click Convert to Editable Tags in the page header bar. This button is only visible when there are non-editable tags in the email template.
  3. Confirm the action.
  4. Make the necessary changes to the tags.
  5. Save and publish your changes.

Testing Templates

The editor allows you to test how the template looks in your mailbox before it goes live.

  1. Click Send Test Email in page header bar.
  2. Enter the Destination Email Address.
  3. Enter Order ID. A valid order ID can be found in CMS from Orders | Successful Orders.
  4. Click SEND.

You should be able to view the test email content and how it looks from the destination email address.

Note
Note Only Order Print Receipt & Transaction Receipt templates have this support.
