Copy an App Config

Copy a Point of Sale app config to create a new version while maintaining the same layout references, ensuring that any layout changes affect both configs. This method streamlines app configuration management and reduces redundancy.

Understanding Layout References

App configs can and frequently do point to the same layout. Let's say you copy a production app config. The copied config still points to the production home layout. So changes to this layout are visible in both configs. Be careful.

Copy and Create

Create a copy of an existing app config

  1. In CMS, go to Apps | All.
  2. Hover over a config and click the Copy icon

Overwrite

Import all of the settings from one app config into another app config.

This feature allows you to import all of the settings from another app (i.e., mobile config) into the current app. After saving, all of the settings in your current app will be overwritten.

  1. In CMS, go to Apps | All | your app config.
  2. Hover over the config and click EDIT.
  3. Click IMPORT.
  4. Select an app config from the dropdown.
  5. Click IMPORT.
  6. Click SAVE.

Important This method does not create a copy of layouts rather, it copies layout references.
