Process gift cards with ease in Point of Sale by understanding the limitations and frequently asked questions.

## Restrictions

- You can't purchase or adjust the balance of a gift card if editing an order.
- You can't buy a gift card using an existing gift card.
- Redeeming (cashing out) a gift card to the same gift card number is possible, but the value remain unchanged.
- If you attempt to use the swipe entry method for a gift card and a credit card is swiped instead, the payment may still go through.
- In a 1:N payment terminal setup, gift cards aren't checked automatically after a card payment on the same terminal.
- The app might indicate that the balance check operation timed out prematurely. However, the terminal still shows the check balance interface. To resolve this, select "**Cancel**" on the terminal and re-perform the balance check.
- Gift card cash-out values cannot be refunded to another gift card.

## Are virtual gift cards supported?

Yes, virtual gift cards are supported out of the box. We offer two methods for processing: card swipe on the terminal and manual entry through the POS app UI, which then completes the transaction via the terminal. Please note that the app cannot retrieve the next available gift card number from the terminal. Associates must refer to an external list to enter the gift card number in the UI.
