A new Adyen terminal needs to fetch the configuration set up from the portal during the boarding process.

1. It needs to be first connected to a network to continue with the boarding‌ process.
2. If it’s boarded, you can go into the admin menu by clicking 9 and then O (green O).
3. Enter the admin menu password to continue configuring the network (reach out to the terminal admin for this password).![The admin menu with PIN](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-commerce-retail-264-0-0-production-enus/17d647fb-8988-49fb-9add-c4f4cc79c9e4/retail/images/rt_cms_hardware_board_new_terminal.png)

### New Device

If it's a new device, the **Board Terminal** option shows after configuring the network. Select **Board Terminal**.

1. If the terminal prompts for a one-time password, enter the one-time password to fetch the configuration associated with the terminal from the Adyen console.
2. If the terminal prompts to select a store, select the terminal’s store and proceed.![Board a new terminal device screen.](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-commerce-retail-264-0-0-production-enus/17d647fb-8988-49fb-9add-c4f4cc79c9e4/retail/images/rt_cms_hardware_new_board_term.png)![Enter the passwrod to connect a new device to the terminal.](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-commerce-retail-264-0-0-production-enus/17d647fb-8988-49fb-9add-c4f4cc79c9e4/retail/images/rt_cms_hardware_board_terminal_passwd.png)

### Existing Device

1. If it's an existing device, complete the reassigning process. The terminal can be accessed from the Adyen console.
2. After the reassign is done in the console, press **9** and then **O** on the Adyen Terminal to go to the admin menu.

    2. The terminal updates to the reassigned new store.

## Connecting to Wi-Fi

Connect the iPad and Adyen terminal to the same Wi-Fi to turn on communication between them. Make sure that the Wi-Fi network is a 2.4GHz network as most Adyen devices don't support 5GHz. Subpar network bandwidth impacts the device's performance and authentication.

## Setting Static IP Address

You can set up a static IP for a Wi-Fi network in the Adyen terminal by disabling DHCP. The IP will remain tied to the network until you reload Wi-Fi in the terminal or forget the network in the terminal. You will need to get the proper IP, Subnet, Gateway, and DNS from your internal network team.

1. Follow the step for Connecting to Wi-Fi.
2. Go to the **Admin** menu by pressing **9** **O** and select **Network**.
3. In the admin menu, select **Network > Wi-Fi > Select Your Wi-Fi > IP Settings**. ![A series of screen shots showing your network details in the Ayden Terminal.](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-commerce-retail-264-0-0-production-enus/17d647fb-8988-49fb-9add-c4f4cc79c9e4/retail/images/rt_cms_hardware_ayden_network_settings.png)
4. Deselect **DHCP** and enter the IP address to set the network connection.![Unchecked DHCP setting in the Ayden Terminal](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-commerce-retail-264-0-0-production-enus/17d647fb-8988-49fb-9add-c4f4cc79c9e4/retail/images/rt_cms_hardware_uncheck_dhcp.png)
5. Apply changes by choosing the tick mark at the bottom-right of the terminal screen.

3. Scroll down to the **IP settings** section and tap **Static**.![Select static in the I settings section.](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-commerce-retail-264-0-0-production-enus/17d647fb-8988-49fb-9add-c4f4cc79c9e4/retail/images/rt_cms_hardware_static_ip_ayden.png)
4. Enter the IP and save your changes.

## Configure Ayden Payment Gateway

Before you can add a terminal to your POS, set up an Adyen Payment Gateway in your CMS. Follow the instructions in [this article](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.rt_cms_hardware_ayden_gateway_info.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "You can configure different payment gateways at the store level, such as store-level settlements, reporting, and currency requirements and integrate Adyen into Point of Sale.") to learn how.

## Connect Ayden to POS

![Important](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-commerce-retail-264-0-0-production-enus/17d647fb-8988-49fb-9add-c4f4cc79c9e4/images/icon_important.png)

Important If you're pairing, make sure you've left the menu in your Adyen terminal and you're on the home screen (you see Adyen or your company logo). Otherwise, it can have pairing problems.

1. Go to **CMS > Apps > Store**.
2. Edit the app configuration of your choice: **Modules > Peripherals > Card Readers**.
3. Set **Default Card Reader** to '**VerifoneAdyen**'.
4. Select **Save**. ![The Ayden terminal home screen in the CMS.](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-commerce-retail-264-0-0-production-enus/17d647fb-8988-49fb-9add-c4f4cc79c9e4/retail/images/rt_cms_hardware_verifoneayden.png)
5. Then, go to **POS App Device Manager > Add Terminal** to manually add the Adyen terminal to the Modern POS.
6. Add the terminal option and it will show a popup to add the terminal ID and the IP details.
    1. Scan the IP number by selecting **5** and **O** in your Adyen terminal and scanning the QR code.![Adding a terminal popup window in your POS app.](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-commerce-retail-264-0-0-production-enus/17d647fb-8988-49fb-9add-c4f4cc79c9e4/retail/images/rt_cms_hardware_ayden_qr_ip_address.png)
    2. You can also manually add it by entering the IP number.
    3. You can also manually add the terminal ID number. This step is only for terminal API implementation.
    4. The added terminal is automatically connected to the POS app. The POS shows a blue check mark to confirm the same. ![The POS app showing the Ayden terminal connected.](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-commerce-retail-264-0-0-production-enus/17d647fb-8988-49fb-9add-c4f4cc79c9e4/retail/images/rt_cms_hardware_blue_check_confirm_pos_app.png)
