# Processing Installment Payments for Mexico Retail Stores with Adyen Terminals

If you have Point of Sale stores in Mexico, you can process installment payments through Adyen integrated terminals. Work with Adyen to install the necessary configurations and update your terminal to receive installment prompts during payment processing. Add a tag to your receipt layout to print installment details for shoppers. Review the limitations if your terminal uses the card acquisition flow and the necessary workarounds for debit card payments.

- Platform Support: iPhone and iPad
- Offline Support: No

In Mexico, the credit issuer handles installments and the merchant is paid the full amount of the installment directly. The credit issuer charges the shopper in monthly installments, typically between three and 18 months. The shopper doesn't pay any interest, regardless of the length of the installment plan. The credit issuer assumes the risk and handles the financing. However, the merchant is responsible for any installment fees charged by the issuer. This fee varies depending on the merchant's monthly processing volume and the specific installment program.

To accept credit and debit card installment payments in Mexico, you must have or be able to support these items:

- A commercial agreement with a credit issuer, bank, or financial institution that supports multiple credit issuers.
- The correct installment indicators included during authorization and clearing for all installment transactions.
- The ability to pay all applicable installment fees to the issuer.

You can process installment payments in Mexico with Adyen terminals and a POS-integrated flow.

1. Request support from Adyen to configure the fields listed in the codeblock for your POS terminal.
2. To update your terminal’s configuration to prompt for installments, reboot your terminal.
    1. To open the admin menu, press **9** and then press the green circle button.
    2. Select **Configuration** and enter your passcode.
    3. Select **Update**.
3. (Optional) If you want to print installment details on receipts, add the :ps\_cc\_auth\_details ps tag to the payment tender section of your order receipt layout. See[Configure Receipts](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.rt_cms_layouts_receipts_config.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Customize Point of Sale receipt appearance to match your branding and create a consistent customer experience. Control email receipt-sharing options so that you can ensure secure and efficient delivery. Format receipt content to highlight important information and improve readability.").

```
installmentsBeforeAuth.enabled = TRUE
installmentsBeforeAuth.config =
{“regular”:{“enabled”:true,”entry_type”:”predefined”,”options”:[3,6,9,12,18]}}
```

Known Issues & Restrictions:

- If your POS uses the card acquisition flow to process Synchrony credit card purchases with Adyen and you have the installment integration enabled, swipe and tap purchases fail. Customers can still insert their card for payment. See [Processing Synchrony Credit Card Purchases via Adyen](https://support.predictspring.com/hc/en-us/articles/34768204389139-Processing-Synchrony-Credit-Card-Purchases-via-Adyen).
- To accept debit cards during an installment payment, select "0" as the number of installments.
