Fiscalization Requirements for France

Confirm that your Point of Sale (POS) or cash register system in CMS meets criteria like inalterability, security, data retention, and archival.

Most European countries have unique fiscalization rules in place to ensure accurate reporting of Value Added Tax (VAT) to tax authorities. Fiscal requirements, at a high level, necessitate that every transaction be sequential, signed, and reported to tax authorities.

French Fiscal Regulation implemented since January 1, 2018, mandates that every organization liable for VAT must employ a point of sale (POS) or cash register system meeting specific criteria, including:

  • Inalterability
  • Security
  • Data Retention
  • Archival

These systems must be certified by accredited bodies like Infocert or LNE. Certification is valid for one year, provided there are no software changes affecting the criteria mentioned previous.

Infocert certifies Point of Sale's POS software, with the latest certification number being 525/0435–3. The last digit of the certification number increments annually upon recertification. You can find the most recent certificate at the end of this article.

The latest version of the certificate can be found on the Infocert Certificates page. Go to Produit | PredictSpring Modern POS from the dropdown and then select NF525. You should be able to download the certificate.
