Point of Sale has native integration with Salesforce Omnichannel Inventory (OCI) to do live inventory checks for online orders. Learn how to configure POS and SFOMS to take advantage of this omnichannel capability.
The Point of Sale integration to OCI supports fulfillment from specified stores. Checks will run when items to be fulfilled online are added to the cart or the fulfillment type is changed. The app will check the desired amount against the available to order (ATO) quantity for a live indication of availability.
More information and definitions from Salesforce are available in this Omnichannel Inventory Terminology.
To invoke OCI, specific inventory management controls in CMS have to be enabled and disabled. For information on inventory management, read Inventory Management.
- Go to and edit the app config you wish to enable OCI.
- Go to and disable the flag, Online Inventory. If it's enabled then Feed data will be used to 'check' online inventory instead of OCI.
- Back in CMS, go to .
- Turn on the flag, Enable PredictSpring inventory management to track online inventory.
- Back in CMS, go to
- Create or edit a configuration by referring to Live Inventory.
POS Behavior
There are two 'workflows' in the POS that use the OCI integration. OmniV2 must be enabled to use these checks.
- When an item is added to a cart --> Ship to Home is selected --> OCI will be invoked to confirm online availability.
- Items are already in the cart --> fulfillment method is switched from in store to ship to home --> OCI will be invoked.
The POS will display an error message (preventing you from checking out or adding the item to the cart) if the ATO in the fulfillment location is < 1.
