# Required Data Feeds

Point of Sale includes a mobile search engine that is built for speed. To optimize the mobile experience for customers, Point of Sale uses data feeds. Customers benefit from a faster mobile search experience.

These data feeds are required to optimize the mobile experience for customers:

- Product Feed
    - Use: Product feed drives all content on mobile app. All product details on app (i.e. search results, filters, PDP etc) are derived from product feed. A good and rich product feed with all details about product, is essential for a rich user experience.
    - GTIN Field: The GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) field should be populated for products to ensure full POS functionality. Specifically, the GTIN is used as the product identifier for Cycle Count manual search. If your catalog does not natively include GTIN values, you can use field mapping to populate the GTIN field with an alternative identifier such as productId or SKU. For more information, see [Map Data Feed Fields](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.rt_adv_config_data_feeds_maps_field_maps.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Set Field Mappings in Point of Sale to transform data from external sources into the format that Point of Sale uses. Field mappings use transformations and regular expressions. When you import data feeds, the field mappings ensure that your data is accurate and consistent. This consistency helps to streamline your retail operations.") and [Learn about Cycle Counts in Point of Sale](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.rt_cms_modules_learn_about_cycle_counts_in_retail_cloud.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Understand the distinctions among each Cycle Count type to best suit your retail environment.").
- Category Feed
    - Use: Product categories can be derived from product feed itself. Providing a separate category feed provides better control over sorting of categories as well as product mapping to category. Category browse feature within app utilises this feed.
- Store Feed
    - Use: Store feed drives the functionality to find a nearby store for a user based either on user’s location or a manually entered location by user.
- Store Inventory Feed
    - Use: Store Inventory feed is used for Find In Store feature. On PDP a user can opt to see if a product is available in a nearby store.

## Notes

- All feed imports can be scheduled using the Point of Sale CMS.
- All feed files can be sent in original or compressed form. Compression methods supported are .gz and .zip.
- All feed content supports UTF-8 encoding.
