Supported Tax Functionality
The following tax-related functionality is supported by the POS if it is powered by the Vertex tax engine:
- Calculate taxes and fees: Refer to Special Fees to know more on fees.
- Tax override: If overridden tax rates, for example, tax holidays, are configured in Vertex.
- Tax exemption: Refer to Set Up Tax Exemption to configure tax-exempt codes for customers and products.
Unsupported Tax Functionality
The following tax-related functionality are not supported by the POS if it is powered by the Vertex tax engine:
- Point of Sale doesn't handle threshold-based taxes (for example, changes in tax percentage based on the order total for a shipping order to a Florida address). Merchants must configure this in Vertex. Point of Sale sends the cart and tax group to Vertex, which calculates the tax accordingly.
- Advanced tax capabilities in Vertex aren't currently supported. For example, Point of Sale doesn't support Public Improvement Fees (PIFs).
