# Set Up Prerequisites for Exchanges RMA

There are a few prerequisites necessary before you can set up Exchanges with RMA for your org.

### Required Editions

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small edition"><colgroup><col></colgroup><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;"><a href="https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.om_editions.htm&amp;language=en_US" target="_blank">View supported editions</a>.</td></tr></tbody></table>

See all steps in [Exchanges with RMA Setup](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.om_exchanges_rma_setup.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "After you have installed and configured either an Order Management, B2B Commerce, or D2C Commerce org, configure Exchanges with RMA Returns.").

1. Set up an inventory source to enable reservations. Reservations reduce out of stock errors by placing a reservation on a product in a cart.

These steps are for B2B and D2C Commerce only. The steps for B2C Commerce are later in this setup guide.
2. Configure user permissions. Users need either the System Administrator profile or the Identity User profile. You can use a provided permission set as is or clone and customize it.

    1. Go to Setup.
    2. In the Quick Find box, find and select **Permission Sets**.
    3. Select a permission set.

    | Permission Set | Description |
    | --- | --- |
    | Order Management Agent | Lets a user process an exchange with RMA for a customer. |
    | Order Management Operations Manager | Lets a user configure exchanges with RMA and process an exchange with RMA for a customer. |
3. Enable Optional Price Books. If you ran the Commerce Setup Assistant, this is already done. Otherwise, see the Order Management section of the Commerce Setup.

Next step: [Activate the Exchanges with RMA Flow Template](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.om_activate_exchanges_rma_flow.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "The Exchanges RMA flow lets a customer service representative create even, uneven, and post-fulfillment exchanges. To use the flow, copy and activate the flow template, and then clone or customize the flow as needed.")

Unlike a simple exchange, which only allows for same-cost variant exchanges, an exchange with RMA processes the return of the previous product before letting a customer service representative (CSR) order a new item, enter a new delivery address, and select a shipping method, all on behalf of the user. Finally, the CSR can process any refund or additional funds needed from the customer.")
