# Deploy PWA Kit Storefronts with the Managed Runtime

The Managed Runtime deploys and operates PWA Kit storefronts so that front-end teams don't have to worry about the operational cost and complexity of running mission-critical, highly scalable infrastructure. Set up single sign-on for authentication and authorization. Manage project users and permissions, auto-scale environments to handle traffic spikes, and protect against denial-of-service attacks.

**Where:** Available to all Salesforce B2C Commerce customers.

**When:** August 2022

**Why:** Features of Managed Runtime 22.8 include:

**Production Environments**

Teams can now use the [Managed Runtime API](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/commerce/pwa-kit-managed-runtime/references?meta=managed-runtime-api:projects_target_partial_update) or [Runtime Admin](https://runtime.commercecloud.com/) to mark any environment as production, enabling additional monitoring, proactive alerts, and deletion prevention. (Environments can be marked as production as long as the organization limit for production environments hasn’t been reached.)

**Node 16 Support**

Managed Runtime now supports the deployment of applications based on Node 16. Based on the [Node LTS support schedule](https://nodejs.org/en/about/releases/), we recommend that customers currently running Node 12 apps upgrade to Node 16.

**Runtime Admin: Last Used Organization**

Runtime Admin lands you on the organization you last used, saving valuable clicks for customers and partners who are part of multiple organizations.

**HIPAA Compliance**

Managed Runtime is now [HIPAA](https://compliance.salesforce.com/en/hipaa) compliant and can be used by customers looking to deploy healthcare applications.
