Which Salesforce Commerce Product Do I Have?
| Permission Set | Capabilities | Required Licenses |
|---|---|---|
| Buyer | Access the store, view products and categories, add products to wishlists, and purchase products. | External Apps License or higher |
| Buyer Manager | Besides buyer capabilities, includes management of carts and orders of all buyers linked as effective accounts to the buyer manager’s account. Manage contacts and reports. | Customer Community Plus or higher |
| Account Switcher (Optional) | Allows buyers and buyer managers to switch between accounts. To create an account switcher permission set, clone the buyer or buyer manager permission set and add System Permissions. | Customer Community Plus or higher |
Note Users assigned to an account switcher permission set based on the buyer manager permission
set can create, edit, and delete addresses on accounts they have access to. Users assigned to
an account switcher permission set based on the buyer permission set have only read access to
addresses on the other accounts.
If you don’t want to use the preconfigured buyer and buyer manager permission sets, we recommend that you clone the preconfigured sets and customize as necessary.
Important In Organization-Wide Defaults, set the Default External Access for
product records to Private for all commerce use cases. If this setting isn’t Private, and you
have multiple stores or a mix of stores and other Experience Cloud sites, then authenticated
users can use SOQL queries to discover all products including those they aren’t entitled to.
However, they won’t see prices or be able to purchase. For stronger security, avoid granting
object access at the profile level. Instead, use a permission set assigned only to buyers and
buyer managers to control access to products and other commerce objects.
