# Enable or Disable Sort for Search Results

Sorting is enabled for search and category pages in B2B Commerce stores by default. However, you can control whether customers can see the sorting menu that appears on these pages with the Results Layout component. You can change the sorting properties on any page that uses the Results Layout component.

### Required Editions

Because each instance of the Results Layout component is unique, set properties on each instance separately.

1. In the navigation sidebar, select a store from the **Store** dropdown.
2. Select **Website Design**, and then click **Experience Builder**.
3. From the Pages dropdown menu, select **Search Results** or **Category Detail**.
4. Select the **Results Layout** component.
5. In the Sorting Menu section, select the **Show sorting menu** checkbox so users can sort search results. Deselect it to disable sorting.
6. Publish the store.

The sorting menu appears only when a search returns results. The selected sorting option remains enabled for the current search results, unless you change it. When you issue another search request, the sorting option reverts to the first sort option in the sorting menu.
