Before setting up the discount, make sure that the correct quantity rule is set. If quantity rules are enabled, the specified increment is treated as 1 unit. For example, if you receive a US$1 discount for every 1 unit of something and the quantity rule is set to 10, you receive a $1 discount for every 10 units. See [Create a Purchase Quantity Rule for a B2B Store](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.comm_products_qr_create_assign.htm&language=en_US).

1. In the navigation sidebar, select a store from the **Store** dropdown.
2. Select **Promotions**, and select the promotion you want to edit.
3. On the Discounts tab, select an existing discount or click **New**.
4. (Optional) Add a promotion tier.

See [Add a Promotion Tier](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.comm_promotions_add_tier.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Use tiers to create progressive discounts for a promotion. You can add tiers only to a promotion that was created as a tiered promotion. All discounts within a tier must be of the same type. You can create up to 10 tiers per promotion.").
5. Select a target type to specify which part of the purchase to apply the discount to.
    - Product–Apply the discount to individual products. You can discount up to 25 products. You can discount all variations or later use variation attributes to restrict the discount to specific variations of the variation base products.
    - Category–Apply a discount to a set of products in a catalog. You can discount up to 25 categories. You can discount all variations or later use variation attributes to restrict the discount to specific variations of the variation base products.
    - Transaction–Apply a discount to the total order amount.
    - Shipping–Apply a discount to all shipping methods on the order. A shipping promotion is applied to all the shipping methods that the customer is eligible for. To use a shipping promotion, your store must have the Cart Calculate API enabled. See [Enable and Disable the Cart Calculate API for a Webstore](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/commerce/salesforce-commerce/guide/cart-calculate-api.html#enable-and-disable-the-cart-calculate-api-for-a-webstore).
    - Shipping Rate–Apply a discount to an individual shipping method on the order. You can discount up to 25 shipping rates. To use a shipping rate promotion, your store must have the Cart Calculate API enabled. See [Enable and Disable the Cart Calculate API for a Webstore](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/commerce/salesforce-commerce/guide/cart-calculate-api.html#enable-and-disable-the-cart-calculate-api-for-a-webstore).
6. For the Product, Product Category, and shipping rate target types, select a target that matches the target type that you’re selecting.

A promotion can have multiple product discounts as long as they have the same target type.

    ![Note](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-commerce-comm-264-0-0-production-enus/d863e308-482a-4dfa-8d20-2a94737d394a/images/icon_note.png)

Note Product search supports only product names. Searching by SKU, product ID, or custom attributes isn't supported.
7. (Optional) For the Category target type, select **Apply to sub-categories** to apply the discount to the selected category and all its subcategories.

The discount applies across the entire category hierarchy, including subcategories that you add later. If you leave this field blank, the discount applies only to the selected category, and not to its subcategories.
8. For subscription products, select a product selling model to which the promotion applies.

To apply the promotion to term-defined or evergreen subscription products, select the appropriate product selling model. If you leave this field blank, the promotion applies only to non-subscription products.

Note Promotions that target a product category apply to all product selling models for subscription products in that category.
9. If you have a multicurrency store, select a currency ISO code.

This field is available only in multicurrency stores.
10. Select an adjustment type to specify which method to use for the discount.
    - Fixed Amount Off Line Item Total—Deducts an amount off a product or cost shipping line item.
    - Fixed Amount Off Transaction—Deducts a monetary amount off the entire product amount for a transaction. This option is available only when you use the Transaction target type.
    - Fixed Amount Off Unit Price—Deducts an amount off each quantity of a product line item.
    - Fixed Price—Specifies a promotional price for a product, product category, shipping, or shipping rate.
    - Percentage Discount—Deducts a specified percent from the price of a product, product category, transaction, shipping, or shipping rate.
    - Total Fixed Price—Specifies a promotional price for a set of products or product categories.
    - Bonus Product—Specifies a bonus product to add to an order at no additional cost. You can target only one simple or variation product. The product can be purchasable or non-purchasable.
11. Enter the amount or percent of the adjustment.
12. (Optional) To restrict the number of products that can receive the discount, enter a quantity limit.

The default is unlimited. You can’t set a quantity limit for shipping or shipping rates.
13. Select a target operator.
    - None—None of the possible values apply. If the target type is Transaction or Shipping, select **None**.
    - Equal to—The qualifying product or item in the qualifying category must be in the cart.
    - Not Equal to—The qualifying product or item in the qualifying category isn’t required to be in the cart.
14. (Optional) To require the customer to meet the limit to be eligible for the promotion, select **Apply discount only when a cart reaches the quantity limit**.
15. Save your changes.
16. (Optional) To add more conditions for a discount to be applied, click the promotion target name and then click **Edit** under Promotion Rules.

You can’t apply rules for shipping or shipping rates.

    - Any Condition Is Met—The promotion is applied if any condition is met. For instance, to create a discount for shoes or pants, add two discount target types with the respective targets. If the customer’s cart has either shoes or pants, the discount is applied.
    - All Conditions Are Met—The promotion is applied only if all conditions are met. For instance, to create a discount for shoes and pants, add two discount target types with the respective targets. If the customer’s cart has both products, the discount is applied. Adding only the shoes or pants doesn’t trigger the discount.
17. Click **Add Condition**.
    - Target Type–The type of item to apply the discount to. For instance, to apply a discount to shoes, select Product as the rule’s target type. If the main target type is a parent product or a category, you can select an attribute as the rule’s target type.
    - Operator Type–The condition that determines which item within the target type is or isn’t eligible for a discount. For instance, to apply a discount to shoes, select Product as the rule’s target type, select **Is** as the operator type, and select shoes as the target.
    - Target–The specific item or attribute value to apply the discount to‌. For example, if you select Product as the rule’s target type, you can enter shoes as the target. If the target type is an attribute, such as color, you can select a value, such as red, as the target.
18. Save your changes.
