# Release Resources and Reverse Payments for Failed B2B Commerce Orders

You can specify that when an order fails in your B2B store, reserved resources, including inventory reservations and coupon redemptions, are automatically released. You can also configure your store to automatically reverse payments associated with the failed order.

1. To automatically release resources:
    1. In the navigation sidebar, click **Settings** and then select **Checkout**.
    2. Go to **Post-Order**.
    3. Enable **Release reserved resources on failed orders**.

With this setting enabled, inventory reservations and coupon redemptions are automatically released when an order fails.
2. ![Note](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-commerce-comm-264-0-0-production-enus/d863e308-482a-4dfa-8d20-2a94737d394a/images/icon_note.png)

Note If you're using [Streamlined Place Order](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/commerce/salesforce-commerce/guide/b2b-d2c-comm-streamlined-place-order.html) with the **Release reserved resources on failed orders** setting enabled, when a customer places an order and the payment isn't confirmed by the payment gateway in time, then the order is marked as having failed. The resources reserved for the order are released. If the payment gateway confirms the payment later, then the payment isn't automatically reversed, because the order's already failed, and you could end up with orphaned payments. To identify and reverse orphaned payments, enable the Orphaned Payments sweeper job. See [https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.comm\_orphanedpayments.htm&language=en\_US](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.comm_orphanedpayments.htm&language=en_US).

To automatically reverse payments, enable the CheckoutReverseAuthEnabled permission.

To enable this permission, contact your Account Executive. With this permission enabled, payments for failed orders are automatically reversed.

Alternatively, use the [Capture and Refund Payments from the Payment Workspace](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.payments_workspace_actions.htm&language=en_US) and [Payment Authorization Reversal Service](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.apexcode.meta/apexcode/apex_commercepayments_rev_service_api.htm) APIs to implement a custom process to configure your store to reverse payments for failed orders.
