# Manage Shipping Zones and Rates for a B2B Store

Whether you’re using managed or custom checkout, you can organize countries with similar shipping costs into shipping zones. A zone can include countries with different currencies. For each zone, you can set shipping rates based on the monetary value of the order or by weight.

To offer weight-based shipping prices that are supported by a native shipping calculator in a store created before the Winter ’25 release, enable the Cart Calculator API. For stores created in Winter ’25 or later, the Cart Calculator API is enabled by default. See [Enable and Disable the Cart Calculate API for a Webstore](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/commerce/salesforce-commerce/guide/cart-calculate-api.html).

1. In the navigation sidebar, select a store from the Store dropdown.
2. Select **Settings** | **Checkout**.
3. Go to the Manage Shipping page.
    - If you’re using managed checkout, under Shipping, click **Manage Shipping**.
    - If you’re using custom checkout, go to the Shipping tab and click **Manage**.
4. Click **New Zone** and enter a name.
5. Select the countries to add to the zone, and click **Save**.
6. Click **New Rate** and enter a name.
7. Set the transit time, price, currency, and the conditions for your rate.

Use shipping conditions to determine which delivery options to show at checkout. For example, you can define shipping rates based on the cart’s total order value (price) after promotions have been applied and before taxes are calculated. For example, if the cart is $50.00, only Rate 1 is displayed at checkout. If the cart is $300.00, all three rates are shown.

    | Rate Name | Condition | Shipping Cost |
    | --- | --- | --- |
    | Rate 1 | None | $5.00 |
    | Rate 2 | 100 and up $ | $6.00 |
    | Rate 3 | 200–500 $ | $9.00 |

You can also define shipping rates based on weight. For example, if the items weigh 5 KG or less, only Rate 1 is displayed at checkout. If the weight is 50 KG, all three rates are shown.

The native shipping calculator supports weight-based calculations for grams, kilograms, ounces, and pounds. Use only these units. If you use other units, the product weight is calculated as 0. To add shipping weight to your products, see [Add Shipping Weight Options to Commerce Products](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.comm_shipping_weight_products.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "If you set up shipping rates based on weight, you can add fields to the product page to enter weight for individual products.").

    | Rate Name | Condition | Shipping Cost |
    | --- | --- | --- |
    | Rate 1 | None | $5.00 |
    | Rate 2 | 5 and up KG | $6.00 |
    | Rate 3 | 30–50 KG | $15.00 |
8. Click **Save**.
9. To edit or delete a shipping zone or rate, click ![Setup](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-commerce-comm-264-0-0-production-enus/d863e308-482a-4dfa-8d20-2a94737d394a/comm/images/1cb2c_edit_action_arrow.png).
10. Create a shipping charge product.

The shipping charge product represents an order’s shipping cost. Each B2B store must have a shipping charge product. If you have a store created after Summer ’25, the shipping charge product is already created and no action is required.

If your store was created before Summer ’25, the shipping charge product is added when you upgrade your org. To verify that it was created, go to **App Launcher** | **Products** and search for SKU 9999999 or the product name “Shipping Charge Product”. If your store doesn’t have a shipping charge product, create a non-variation product with the word “shipping” in it’s name.

    1. In the navigation sidebar, select a store from the Store dropdown.
    2. Select **Merchandising** | **Product**.
    3. Click **New**.
    4. Enter the product name as Shipping Charge Product.
    5. Add a description, such as “Default shipping product to calculate standard shipping charges.”
    6. Enter a product SKU, such as “9999999.”
    7. Select **Active**.
    8. Select **Shipping Charge Not Applicable**.
    9. Click **Save**.

If your store doesn’t have the shipping charge product, the shipping calculator searches for a parent product with the English word "shipping" in its name, regardless of your store’s default language. If a matching product is found, its product ID is assigned to the cart delivery group method and mapped to the order delivery method. If no matching product exists, the calculator picks a random product that’s used for product ID assignment. This product ID remains valid for 7 days for all cart orders unless the cache is invalidated.

Important If you have a Commerce and Revenue Lifecycle Management Add-on license, set **Is Assetizable** to false when creating a shipping charge product for both native and custom shipping calculators. For more information, see [Configurator Product Catalog](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.revenue_lifecycle_management_dev_guide.meta/revenue_lifecycle_management_dev_guide/connect_responses_configurator_product_catalog_output.htm?q=Is+Assetizable).
11. If you’re using manual taxes, configure tax rates and treatments for each shipping charge product. See [Configure Tax Rates and Treatments with the Manual Salesforce Tax Solution](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.comm_config_tax_rates_treatments.htm&language=en_US).

If you’re using Salesforce Tax with Stripe as your tax provider, don’t configure tax rates and treatments for your shipping charge product. Instead, configure the Default Shipping Tax Code in your Stripe account.

If you’re using an extension, set up taxes on shipping according to the extension implementation.
