# Configure Tax Rates

When you configure the manual Salesforce tax solution for B2B Commerce, you configure tax rates and tax treatments. A tax rate specifies the percentage at which a product is taxed and the country, state, or province where that rate applies. A tax treatment maps the tax rate to products. A tax policy includes all the tax treatments for your store’s products.

[Which Salesforce Commerce Product Do I Have?](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.comm_what_product.htm&language=en_US)

1. From the App Launcher, search for and select **Tax Rates**.
2. Click **New**.
3. If you're using tax codes to calculate the taxes on a product, then enter a tax code.

The tax code maps products to the tax rate. You can use a tax code supplied by a country, state, or province or create your own.

If you don't want to use tax codes, but want to set up taxes for products manually , see [Assign a Tax Policy with the Manual Salesforce Tax Solution](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.comm_assign_tax_policy.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "When you set up the manual Salesforce tax solution, assign a tax policy to your B2B store.").
4. Enter the geo country or geo state where the rate applies.

The geo country and geo state is where the item is shipped. See [Create Geo Countries for the Manual Salesforce Tax Solution](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.comm_create_geocountries.htm&language=en_US) and [Create Geo States for the Manual Salesforce Tax Solution](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.comm_create_geostates.htm&language=en_US).
5. Enter a tax percentage for the rate.
6. Enter a priority.

The priority number determines which tax rate applies first. The lower the number, the higher the priority. If a tax code has both a country and state tax rate associated with it, the priority determines the order in which the tax is calculated. If two tax rates have the same priority, they're added together and applied to the product price. If you don't enter a priority number, the tax rate is evaluated last.

If your org has only Commerce licenses, the Tax Rate record enforces a unique key constraint on the combination of the tax code, geo country, and geo state. You can't create duplicate tax rates with identical values for these three fields. If your org has Revenue Cloud licenses (or a combination of Revenue Cloud and Commerce licenses), no unique key constraint is enforced on Tax Rate.

Repeat these steps to create tax rates and treatments for all products included in the store’s tax policy. Create a tax treatment for each tax rate. See [Create a Tax Treatment](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=commerce.comm_createtaxtreatment.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "A tax treatment defines how taxes are calculated for a specific item through the product's tax code. When you configure the manual Salesforce tax solution in B2B Commerce, create a tax treatment.").
