Automatically Cache Non-Customized Pages for Better Performance

Page Designer now automatically caches pages that don't use custom serialization logic, improving runtime performance. When a page doesn't have a custom serialize() function, the system caches its content for a configurable period.

Pages without a custom serialize() function are automatically cached for the configured TTL duration. Pages with custom serialization logic are not cached.

The following controllers control this automatic caching behavior:

  • __SYSTEM__Page-Serialize
  • __SYSTEM__ShoperExperience-SerializePageV1

When these controllers complete the serialization process, they invoke ContextJsonSerializationEngine.runSerializeScript(...) for the page and its components. If no custom serialize() function is called during this process, the controllers automatically save the response to the page cache for the configured TTL duration.

Where: This feature applies to B2C Commerce.

How: In Business Manager, click App Launcher, and then select Administration | Sites | Manage Sites | Site | Cache. Select Enable Page Caching and specify a Time to Live (TTL) of Page Designer Serialization setting. The default setting is 24 hours (86,400 seconds), but you can change this value.
