# Maximum Application for B2C Commerce Promotions

Limit how many times a promotion can apply per order using the maximum application limit.

Configure max applications for the following discount types:

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small ">
      <colgroup>
        <col>
        <col>
      </colgroup>
      <thead class="slds-text-title_caps ">
        <tr class="">
          <th scope="col" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="text-align:left;vertical-align:top;" id="d165729e37">Promotion class</th>
          <th scope="col" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="text-align:left;vertical-align:top;" id="d165729e40">Promotion type</th>
        </tr>
      </thead>
      <tbody>
        <tr class="">
          <td data-label="Promotion class" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="text-align:left;vertical-align:top;" headers="d165729e37 ">Product</td>

          <td data-label="Promotion type" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="text-align:left;vertical-align:top;" headers="d165729e40 ">
            <p>Without qualifying products</p>
            <p>With amount of qualifying products</p>
            <p>With number of qualifying products</p>
            <p>Buy X/Get Y</p>
            <p style="margin-bottom:0;">Buy X for Total</p>
          </td>

        </tr>
        <tr class="">
          <td data-label="Promotion class" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="text-align:left;vertical-align:top;" headers="d165729e37 ">Shipping</td>

          <td data-label="Promotion type" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="text-align:left;vertical-align:top;" headers="d165729e40 ">
            <p>With amount of shipment merchandise total</p>
            <p style="margin-bottom:0;">With number of qualifying products</p>
          </td>

        </tr>
      </tbody>
    </table>

Apply free shipping to only one shipment of a multi-shipment order. Limit the number of times a bonus discount applies to an order.

When the maximum application setting is used, it affects [promotion priority rules.](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=cc.b2c_promotion_priority_rules.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Promotion priority rules exist to prevent unpredictable or undesirable effects when multiple promotions are applicable for a basket. These rules are hardcoded but you can adjust certain promotion attributes, such as exclusivity and rank, to manipulate promotions application. B2C Commerce doesn't evaluate all sequences of promotions. The sequencing resulting from prioritization doesn't always provide the best value to shoppers.")

## Maximum Application Limits for Choice of Bonus Product Discounts

You can configure a maximum application for Choice Bonus Product discounts as follows:

| Promotion class | Promotion type | Maximum applications | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Product | Without qualifying products | No limit | At most, one BonusDiscountLineItem added to cart |
| Product | Without qualifying products | Limit | At most, one BonusDiscountLineItem added to cart |
| Product | With amount X of qualifying products | No limit | At most, one BonusDiscountLineItem added to cart |
| Product | With amount X of qualifying products | Limit | At most, one BonusDiscountLineItem added to cart |
| Product | With number X of qualifying products | No limit | One BonusDiscountLineItem added per multiple of X qualifying products in the cart |
| Product | With number X of qualifying products | Limit | One BonusDiscountLineItem added per multiple of X qualifying products in the cart |
| Order | With amount X of order merchandise total | No limit | At most, one BonusDiscountLineItem added to cart |
| Order | With amount X of order merchandise total | Limit | At most, one BonusDiscountLineItem added to cart |

The maximum applications setting is only meaningful for product promotions with an amount of qualifying products.

For example, you run the promotion, Buy 3 pairs of pants and get a choice of 1 bonus shirt. A shopper buys 12 pairs of pants and gets to choose four bonus shirts. In contrast, you run the promotion Buy $100 worth of widgets and a get a choice of 1 bonus shirt. A shopper buys $500 worth of widgets but only gets a single bonus shirt, not five.

## Example

In this example, the maximum application limits how many free silk ties are shipped with an order.
