# Define the Channels to Capture Shopper Consent

In Salesforce, select the channel types that you want to use to send notifications to shoppers, such as email, SMS, or WhatsApp. To use an engagement channel, create an attribute definition in your B2C Commerce instance and map it to the channel’s Salesforce record ID.

1. Get the Salesforce record IDs for the channel types that you want to use.
    1. In your connected Salesforce org, go to Data 360 and search for Engagement Channel Types.
    2. Select **All Engagement Channel Types**.
    3. In the list of engagement channel types, locate and select a channel.
    4. In the URL, copy and save only the first 15 characters of the record ID.

The record ID appears after `EngagementChannelType/` and before `/view`. For example, if the URL for Email is `www.salesforce.com/lightning/r/EngagementChannelType/0eFSG000000R5hx2AC/view`, copy `0eFSG000000R5hx`.
    5. Repeat these steps for each channel type that you want to use, such as email, SMS, or WhatsApp.
2. Create an attribute definition for each channel type.
    1. In your connected B2C Commerce instance, in the navigation sidebar, select **Merchant Tools** | **Site** | **Site Preferences** | **Site Custom Preferences**.
    2. Click **New**.
    3. Click **Attribute Definitions**, and then click **New**.
    4. Enter the channel ID as shown in the table.

        | Channel | ID |
        | --- | --- |
        | Email | `uma-email-id` |
        | SMS | `uma-sms-id` |
        | WhatsApp | `uma-whatsapp-id` |
3. Add the channel attribute definitions to an attribute group.
    1. Click **Attribute Grouping**.
    2. Under New Attribute Group, enter uma for the ID and click **Add**.
    3. In the uma attribute line, click **Edit**.
    4. Click the **…** icon, select the attribute definition IDs for the channels that you're using, and then click **Select**.
4. Add the Salesforce record ID to the channel attribute definition.
    1. In the navigation sidebar, select **Merchant Tools** | **Site** | **Site Preferences** | **Site Custom Preferences**.
    2. Select the uma group.
    3. In the **Value** field next to each attribute definition, enter the corresponding record ID for the channel type.
    4. Click **Save**.
