# Import/Export Methods in B2C Commerce

B2C Commerce offers several ways you can add or extract data from your instance database.

## Business Manager Site Import/Export

Use Business Manager Site Import/Export to:

- Create a copy of an instance for a new sandbox
- Set up an instance global data such as:
    - Global preferences as locales, instance time zones - Global custom objects
    - Schedules
    - System object attribute extensions
    - Custom object types
    - Custom preference type definitions
- Create a copy of an instance for archiving
- Export site-specific metadata, such as custom objects

## Business Manager Import/Export

Use Business Manager Import/Export to:

- Trigger an import/export manually
- Import business objects
- Handle large datasets
- Import/export various storefront data using a fast, reliable, and resource-efficient method. This data includes catalog text and image data.

## Import/Export Pipelets

Use Import/Export pipelets to:

- Automate import/export
- Add custom logic to import/export
- Perform a more granular export than is available in Business Manager

## B2C Commerce Scripts

Use B2C Commerce scripts to import or export:

- Directories
- Special files (a file that isn’t an image file or a data file — for example, a Flash application or another site application)

Use B2C Commerce scripts to:

- Add files to a cartridge for import
- Add a file generated by or required by a third party to your cartridge
