# SEO Evaluation for B2C Commerce

There are various easy-to-use, low-cost (or free) tools on the Internet that can help provide you with a sense of how well your site is prepared for SEO. However, quantity doesn’t equal quality: in the end SEO is about driving qualified traffic that results in conversions.

- Understand [SEO Best Practices](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=cc.b2c_seo_best_practices.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Consider the following actions when optimizing your storefront for external search engines and AI-powered search and answer engines.").
- Use the [URL Request Analyzer](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=cc.b2c_using_the_url_request_analyzer.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "The URL Request Analyzer provides you with detailed information on specific URL requests. This tool can help you understand how B2C Commerce processes Storefront URL requests and which configuration it uses to open the corresponding storefront page. It can help identify the root cause of invalid URLs, 404 error pages, and URLs not resulting in the expected target.") to understand how Storefront URL requests are processed and which configuration is used to open the corresponding page.
- Use Google Webmaster tools to understand how well your site is being indexed and is performing on Google, including crawl information, robot.txt evaluation, top search queries and potential problems, and violations.
- Estimate how many pages are on your site using a tool such as Xenu4 or OptiSpider5.
- Look up how many pages are currently indexed. To do this enter a site:(domain) search on the relevant search engine. (For example, site:demandware.com).
- Check for spider traps using a text-only browser such as Lynx6 to see what the spiders see.
- Check redirects on your site, using a tool like WebBug7.
- Look up how many external links have been made to your site and by whom, using Google "link:" command or Yahoo! Search Site Explorer8.
- Track [visits](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=cc.b2c_tracking_visits.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "B2C Commerce enables you to track visits via B2C Commerce Analytics.").
- Trap [add pages](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=cc.b2c_trapping_ad_words_keywords_for_specific_landing_pages.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "B2C Commerce provides an easy way to manage Pay Per Click (PPC) URLs. You don't have to specify a separate URL for each query made by Google or other search engines. Instead, you can map the query generated by Google to a relevant landing page in B2C Commerce automatically. Use the URL-mapping feature to pass the keyword in the Google query to the Search-Show pipeline, which directs the customer to a page with search results based on the query. The Search-Show pipeline also detects if you have created a search redirect for the term and shows the related landing page for that redirect.").
- Testing your 404 error pages with alternate paths. To test 404 error pages, enter an invalid URL to cause a 404 error or take down the application server to cause a transmission error.
